Today Fundashon Mariadal celebrates a special milestone: the ambulance service has been officially part of the organization for exactly 25 years. What started as a modest team with limited resources, has grown into a modern, professional and indispensable link in emergency care on Bonaire over the past quarter century.
The celebration is all about recognition and appreciation. On the occasion of the anniversary, two of the first ambulance colleagues were interviewed, Shandro Susana and Aries Dammers. They talk about the development of the service, the many changes that took place and how ambulance care has developed into a crucial first step in the care pathway of many patients. The ambulance is often the starting point of a pathway in which speed, safety and involvement are central.
The ambulance service works intensively with, among others, the emergency department, general practitioners, police, fire brigade and other partners in the acute chain. This collaboration is essential to be able to guarantee the quality, safety and continuity of care for the residents of Bonaire.
Today, the ambulance service is an indispensable part of the care provided by Fundashon Mariadal. In the daily work of the ambulance professionals, the core values of the organization – love, professionalism, innovation and service – come to life in a tangible way.
The anniversary interview with the employees involved can be viewed via the Facebook page of Fundashon Mariadal. In it, they provide a unique insight into 25 years of ambulance care on the island.
