On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Fundashon Mariadal will commemorate World Kidney Day. To mark this occasion, an Open House will be held at the main entrance of Fundashon Mariadal from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, inviting the Bonaire community to learn more about kidney health and prevention.
The international theme of World Kidney Day 2026 is “Kidney health for all – Caring for people, Protecting the planet.” On this day, attention is drawn worldwide to the importance of healthy kidneys and the early detection of kidney diseases.
Kidney diseases often develop without clear symptoms and are therefore sometimes only discovered at a late stage. Through timely screening and proper education, many complications can be prevented.
During the Open Day, visitors can:
- Speak with healthcare professionals involved in dialysis care
- Receive information about the prevention and treatment of kidney diseases
- Have their blood pressure, blood sugar, and weight checked free of charge
- Take a free urine protein test to help detect early kidney damage
With this activity, Fundashon Mariadal aims to raise awareness about the importance of kidney health and to give the residents of Bonaire an accessible opportunity to have their health checked.
